Lavender- Antioxidant, antimicrobial, antihistamine. Use lavender to soothe any skin irritation whether it be itchiness from a pesky bug bite or sunburnt skin. Simply apply to the affected area! You can also use it to help you get to sleep because we all know nights spent camping aren't always the most comfortable! Dab it on your wrists, chest, and temples.
Tea Tree- Antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral. When you’re out and about in the woods- you’re bound to wind up with some cuts and scrapes. Tea Tree oil’s primary ingredients (terpene hydrocarbons, monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes) make it a very powerful disinfectant when it comes to healing wounds. Use it to kill germs, fight infections and soothe your skin.
Peppermint- Antimicrobial, antiviral, antioxidant. With cooling and invigorating properties, Peppermint can help soothe sun-kissed skin, alleviate headaches, and provide you with a much-needed refreshing burst of energy! You can also use a few drops of Peppermint around your eating area, to keep those pesky ants away.
Here are a few easy D.I.Y recipes that are a must-have for camping!
PEPPERMINT COOLING SPRAY
All you need is:
- 8 drops Peppermint EO
- 1 tsp Witch Hazel
Combine Peppermint and Witch Hazel into a 15ml mister bottle and top with water! When you feel the heat, mist yourself down and experience the cooling and refreshing effects of peppermint essential oil. Mister bottles and raw materials can be found here.
BUG BITE RELIEF ROLLER
Bug Bite Roller to the rescue! This blend can help provide temporary relief from itchy bug bites. It is soothing, cooling, and cleansing.
- 10 drops Lavender
- 10 drops Peppermint
- 5 drops Tea Tree
- Fractionated Coconut Oil (or carrier oil of choice)
- Witch Hazel (optional)
- 10ml Roller Bottle (ombre roller can be found here)
Add essential oils to 10ml roller bottle and top with fractionated coconut oil or carrier oil of choice. Optional: Add 1 part fractionated coconut oil and 1 part witch hazel.
How to use this blend:
Apply your roller blend to your bug bite for temporary relief. Shake before using. Re-apply as needed.
