5 Essential Oils for Easy Breathing

Essential Oils for Easy Breathing

Did you know most people only use one third of their lung capacity while breathing throughout the day?

Consequences of Poor/Shallow Breathing

  • lack of oxygen to the brain
  • lethargy, fatigue, or insomnia
  • anxiety + release of stress hormones

How to Deep Breathe Effectively

Ideally, we breathe slowly and deeply from the bottom of our lungs, causing our belly to go in and out. However, when you experience anxiety, your body automatically starts breathing quickly and shallowly rom your upper lungs, causing your chest to go in and out. Just as anxiety causes shallow breathing, shallow breathing causes anxiety. By the same logic, deep breathing promotes relaxation. Thus, it's very important to mindfully take full, deep breaths from the bottom of your lungs.

Benefits of Deep Breathing

  • releases endorphins (natural painkiller)
  • stimulates lymphatic system (increases energy levels)
  • eases anxiety
